| anyone have long term memory loss as well as short term?
Over the years, I have been suffering from significant long term memory problems, as well as short term. I am often embarrassed when my friends and family talk about incidents Ihave no memory of. My CFIDS dr told me that short term memory problems are common with CFIDS but that it doesn't affect long term memory.
I thought I came across some stuff saying that Chronic Lyme can cause problems with both short term AND long term memory. Is this true? I feel like an alzheimers patient sometimes, except that I do remember faces, but often forget incidents and have large memory gaps in my life. My psychiatrist just says I am probably repressing these things, as they are probably painful. Funny thing is, I am having trouble recalling even the good stuff and enjoyable times, so that is a bunch of nonsense!!!
Does anyone else have these problems? Also have trouble w/ short term memory and can't keep my thoughts in my head long enough to think about them if that makes sense! ;-) (working memory i believe that is)
