Anyone have facial numbness? - Lyme Disease Message Board

Hi all.

Just wondering if I'm the only with a numb face.

It feels really really weird... as if the numbness goes through my skin to the muscles and bones, then down into the brain causing the fog. Creeps me out.

Feels like my whole head (skin, muscle, bones, brain) is getting more and more numb with each passing month.

You are not alone! I got mine after my first dose of Doxy. Still have issues with numbness and tingling on the left side. Pulling the toxins out has been helping!

Dear 6blues,

When this first started the first symptom was the left side of the back of my head was numb, the next day it was the left side of my neck and the third day the left hand and arm. When we went to the ER they looked for Bells Palsey but it never went above the jaw line. It has all stayed the same on the left side and now the right side from the shoulders down have it. I think I have all but gotten used to it because I notice it most when we color my hair and I blow dry it or the air hits it. I hope Dr. Crist has some answers for this. I find it interesting that so many people are hit on the left side like GGB and I. Post steroids it went to the right but that was after 18 months of no change and the steroids shutting down my immune system. I wonder if the left side problem is some kind of clue?

I started out with left face tingling probably 8+ yrs ago (dental numbness type feeling), it progressed quickly to left arm and face. It would come and go increasing in length and severity over several years. For the last several years it has been a constant, headaches, neck pain. The worse now is how it is going into my ears. I will have a intense shooting pain that will leave me with an ear ache. (left side) If you find a connection, let me know. I will be watching this thread. marsha

Wow! Now that is crazy! I have numbness and tingling too. Most of it is on my left side, but I noticed today that I had numbness on the right side of my body as well. I have Lyme toxins in my brain and Babesia. I don't know what is worse between the sweats and aches or the bad headaches and strange neurological symptoms. I constantly feel like someone is poking or touching me, or like spiders are crawling on me, then I have areas that get tingly or go partially numb. The numbness is very similar to the temporary nerve problems you experience after having surgery. It's an awful feeling, especially when you think you have an itch...and you scratch and scratch and can't fix the itch! What's super bad is when you feel numb all over and you feel like you're melting into the world around you and you can't tell if your hot or cold or where your body ends and your surroundings begin. I always say I feel like "plastic" when this happens. I sometimes wonder why my left side has been more affected than my right. The spirochetes must have set up camp in the part of my brain that controls the functioning of my left side! The side I got bit on was my left side too. I have so many questions!

Oh! I kept driving my husband insane tonight. I took my shoe off again and agian because it felt like something was biting my foot! Of course, there was nothing there!
