Very confused....

Well, I went to the doctor yesterday for my lymph node, and he did an ultrasound on it and said that it looks like a benign lymph node and since i've had it for so long not to worry about it. He said it measured like 4-5 mm. So, I went over to the lymphoma board and from reading there, the only sure way to know if its benign or not is to have a biopsy done on it. This doctor wants to see me again in 6 weeks. I dont know what to do, I really just want to trust the doctor since he said it is benign, or should I push for a biopsy--its on my neck, and he said where it is at is a dangerous place to operate on
Also, im going to call Igenex today and see if Dr. Harris will call me back and explain my test results to me.

Re: Very confused....

hi schao! i had a big lymph node on my neck too a few years ago, my doctor told me he thought was bening, he told me to wait some weeks to see is it changed and gave me a medication, it didnt, so i insisted to have the biopsy, and was beningn, and was very painfull for few days,,and at the moment i have 3 lymph nodes bigger than normal and i saw many doctors and all of them told me it look bening... so i am trusting..i know how hard is to wait, but another choice would be to consult an oncologist, they are much more familiar with that than any doctor.. the oncologist i went told me that most of lymph nodes are bening and could be like that for many reasons, alergies, recent infections, etc..have you had a blood count recently? with that you can see if you have any infections..take care and i will be praying for you.. let me know what doctor harris said, i am hoping to get my results form igenex today

Re: Very confused....

Hi Sherrie,

Sorry you didn't get any answers. After doing some reading, it is very possible that your lymph node could be connected to Lyme. The lymph nodes are connected to the lymph system, the lymph system is connected to our bodies and how we eliminate toxins, etc.

Is it swollen and painful? I forgot if you were taking any antibiotics or medicines.

I hope you feel better,
Denise

Re: Very confused....

Hi , My name is Jennifer and I just registered. A friend of mine just had a biopsy last week of several lymph nodes on her neck. About an inch and a half incision. They thought it could be lymphoma and could only tell threw a biopsy. They have been there for about 3 months and getting bigger even after antibiotics. For about 8 months shes been feeling unwell. Rundown, colds, achy, acne, fevers, cold sores, etc but had normal blood work.
So the first patholgist said after the biopsy that its pointing to Kikuchi disease and that it is benign. awaiting the final pathology. You can only know from a biopsy. kikuchi disease is rare and will go away on its own. Triggered by a viral infecrion, epstien barr, herpes, auto immune response, etc.
Good luck!
Me on the other hand have Lyme disease for 1 1/2 years. Finally being treated for 7 months. Rocephin, Biaxin, plaquenil, cortisone and pain killers.
Long story

Jen
