I had a lymph node removed from my neck years ago. No effect and don't know what the surgeon was looking for. I do know lyme specialists get excited when I tell them I had a lymph node removed once. I guess it's because there's a lot to tell from it. Unfortunately, I don't think my surgeon tested for lyme and the records are gone along with his disappearance. The hospital where I had it done is now a nursing home.
Cancer patients have lymph nodes removed, too for testing. My Mom had that done and then the area had to drain. Best to ask your doc how involved the surgey would be. Good luck if you have it done!
I would not have a lymph node removed until I had been on some heavy duty antibiotic therapy and treated aggressively. You have been having issues getting treatment though haven't you? I am sorry if this is the case. I have not been on the boards regularly so am not up to date with your journey.
The lymph system is a very delicate system and removing a node in your groin could really affect the way lymph flows all through that area of your body in the groin area as well as the leg area...and the lymph nodes in your rear end too...they all go through the groin area.
Doctors really don't regard the lymph system as being all that important but it is.
Take care and please think more then twice before having this node removed...sending it to igeneX sounds like a great idea to have it biopsied if you decide to have it removed.
