I.M. Rocephin

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone had success with i.m. Rocephin.

My LLMD has been discussing this with me. It would be a combination of Rocephin injections 3 times a week combined with oral minocin and pulsed Flagyl. I understand they've seen very good results with this.

I would be going to a doctor's office for the injections, I understand they're pretty rough (though not as rough as Lyme disease, that's for sure). Anyone want to share their experience with this? Did it cause a strong herx or penetrate the blood/brain barrier?

Re: I.M. Rocephin

Hi Tinuviel.

I've never heard of these. I took IM Bicillin for months and it did nothing for me except hurt like heck and give me big bruises.

You are brave to do something that you know may be hard to do.

How much do they cost? My Bicillin shots were pricier than gold bars covered in crude oil.

Good luck and let us know the results.

Peace and health to you,
Mickie

Re: I.M. Rocephin

Hi 6blues,

From what I understand, I.M. Rocephin is quite economical because there is a generic form available. Did you take the pnnicillian by itself or did your doc have you combine it with something? My doctor recommends the combinations and dosen't recommend using a single med on it's own for longer than a two week period with this particular disease. I think it has something to do with it adapting.

I have heard that it is extremely painful, but then I've done bikini waxes for years and it really dosen't bother me at all. I think doing it myself is likely out of the question though. My LLMD wants me to have it done in a doc's office because I am violently allergic to pennecillan (sp?) and Rocephin is somewhat similar although many people with allergies to pennecillan take it with no problems. It is a little scary because I don't know what is going to happen.

One more question, did the injections leave any permanent lumps or anything like that?
