Lyme and surgery

Hi,

Just wondering about the effects of surgery on recovered Lyme patients. Has it been known to trigger relapse? What sorts of things have been known to cause relapse?

Re: Lyme and surgery

Hi TINUVIEL:

I just had surgery 2 weeks ago and I've had no problems. I think it is just going to depend on how your body responds to the stress of the surgery. After my surgery in April, I develop pnemonia, had extensive lower back and joint pain. I think the problem was that I had been fighting bronchitis for a few weeks prior to the surgery and then the surgery just stressed my body out. If you decide to go forward with the surgery make sure you are healthy to begin with.

Good luck to you!!

Cindy

Tin
Stress can bring lyme cyst out of hideing. But being as stress free before (pamper yourself) and after would also help. Praying for you. . ....Marsha

Re: Lyme and surgery

I agree with Cindy and Marsha.

Surgery is a stress to the body which may lower some of our natural germ fighting abilities, but if you are careful - it shouldn't be a big hairy deal.

If you are planning any surgery, I'll come over and help take care of you so none of those nasty bacteria would ever think of reappearing.
