Hello all!!!
I found a doctor only 5 1/2 hour drive!!! I am so excited!!! He will see both myself and my daughter!! He specializes in Lyme and is a preferred provider according to my insurance...If he works out i will list him on the doc thread!!! Our appointment is end of this month i will keep you all posted! Thank you all so much for your help, advice and encouragement. We all deserve health and quality of life and I am grateful I had you all to turn to. Wish us luck and safe journey...as I wish all of you. Heidi
Nobby - Great!! Where is the Dr. located (wonder if it is mine!!). No names necessary! If he is in Western Michigan - he is probably mine and if so, I think he is great and very knowledgeable about Lyme. Good luck!!!!!
My mom found mention of this doctor on another message board...no feedback on him however...His name is Dr. Hoffman he is in Eagle River WI, has anyone heard of him...He specializes in Lyme and the nurses were so very nice...I am hoping he is as knowledgeable as you all are!!! Any advice on what to take with me...should I bring our Titer results...I was so excited I forgot to ask!!! YOU all are the best....I feel as though I have your support and that you genuinely care thank you all again!!! Heidi
Hi Heidi. I have not heard of this doctor. Do you know what kind of a doctor he is?
I suggest asking him if he tests for co-infections (very important) and which lab he uses. Bring a list and a timeline of all your symptoms. It helps to write everything down, including your questions, ahead of time. Then you make sure you discuss everything you need to.
I hope this works out for you. I have not heard of this doctor either. I don't know anything about this guy so he may be excellent for all I know. But do be aware that being an infectious disease doc or calling themselves a "Lyme specialist" is not a guarantee that they are going to provide good care for Lyme patients. The best way to locate a competent Lyme doctor is through other patients who have experienced successful treatment. He may have had other reasons for asking you to bring your titer results, but beware of any doctor who relies on that for diagnosis. And as Ticker said, ask about testing for co-infections. If he dosen't, run a mile in the other direction. Good luck, I hope this works out for you and you get the treatment you need. Let us know how it goes.
thanks tinuviel...I will surely follow your advice and be very cautious....so far the only positive is that he accepts insurance....I will let you all know my experience I go 8/24...I hope he can help us!
