Cancelled spinal tap - Lyme Disease Message Board

Well due to everyones disregard of the spinal tap. I cancelled it. He was pertty upset. Said i really should have it. Got an appointment to a rheumatologist *spelling* on monday. So maybe he can help. Thanks for everones concern. Im still continuing doxy. He has me on 200 mg a day. Should i do 300?

I think this was a wise decision. And based on my knowledge of lyme, the doxy dose should be higher. Just remember a Rheumatolgist might not have all the answers either. Find out his views on lyme. Go into the appt with alot of info so you know whether he is the best choice. I went to a Rumy for many years. He diagnosed FM but wouldn't consider lyme since the test he ran was neg.

Hi Mike - I also think this was a wise decision. Save you time, effort and pain. I also had a doctor recommend spinal tap as a test for Lyme, but after I did a bit of research, I talked myself out of it. Highly unreliable and risky and invasive.

I was on Doxy, 600 mg per day.

Again, like i unno how to describe it. I feel remarkably better. My symptoms are still here....but like..Its juuuust enough to throw me off track. I dont know if that makes since or not. Like the only thing thats bothering me. Is i still have a hard time waking up and moving around. That "flu" feeling. I have a mild pressure behind my eye. And my ear keeps popping. I still think i may not have lyme. But that other tick illeness. I looked on here and search lyme and alot of interesting articles came up. But yea "im allloooot more clear headed." So im hoping the doxy is going clear it up. Also i read on an article on here. That as lyme leaves, it causes fibro in most people. It said that on this site. So maybe im getting that.

Hi Mike, I am glad you cancelled the spinal tap.

Lyme symptoms will wax and wane. If symptoms are still present, so is the infection. Most Lyme doctors will treat until all symptoms are gone plus at least two months longer.
