what tests to order? - Lyme Disease Message Board

I have an appointment on the 29th. I haven't seen the dr. listed as an llmd, but she used to work with Dr. Bill Harvey in Houston and he is highly recommended. She is an internist who treats a lot of fibromyalgia. I want to be prepared to request she order the right tests. I know they should be done through igenex or Bowen, but what specifically should I request? Do I need to take the igenex lab request forms with me? Is there anything else I should do, ask, say, not say in this appointment to decrease my chances of being declared a mystery or written off as a head case ? Thanks again for all the support.

Hi Lizzie. I suggest calling IgeneX to see if you need their forms or not.

Tests to ask for are Western Blot (for Lyme) and co-infectoin tests for Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis (HME & HGE), Bartonella, and Mycoplasma. I believe that IgeneX can test for all except Mycoplasma. Some Lyme doctors use MDL in NJ to test for Mycoplasma.

I believe that IgeneX is best to use for everything except Mycoplasma (which MDL in NJ can test for).
