will antibiotics effect test results?-please help - Lyme Disease Message Board

I had a wonderful appt. with a Dr. Patricia Salvato - maybe Savalto - don't have the spelling handy- in Houston today. She ised to work with Dr. Cill Harvey when he was here. She was very lyme literate and highly suspects I have it. She started me on oral Ceftin and is having me order the igenex kit so she can send my blood there ASAP. If it comes back positive, she wants to start me on several months of IV Rocefin (sp).
My question: Should I start the Ceftin now, or will it throw off the test results when they draw my blood next week. I know I have already asked a similar question on here, but am really desperate for an answers as I really want to start treating this monster.

Igenex has many different tests, some actually work better if you take antibiotics first. The best thing to do is call Igenex and tell them which test you are taking and ask them if the abx will affect the test. I have called them many times about different things, they are very helpful.
