Hi Deb,
It is far from "a bunch of bunk". The controversy is sadly, very real. I have lived in CT for 25 yrs and was dx'ed with LD 16 yrs ago. It is surreal to me the amount of time, energy and money that is being spent trying to remove the licenses of doctors who treat Lyme Disease with antibiotics for longer than 30 days.
People are getting shot up with botox and collagen in every conceivable part of their bodies, doctors are allowed to surgically sculpt bodies like they are made of clay, every imaginable type of bizarre treatment for cancer and other serious illnesses from all corners of the world are tolerated, lap band surgeries are becoming more common and the amount of prescription drugs and alternative remedies are at an all time high. Dermatologists give months and months of antibiotics for acne yet, you have some doctors who treat Lyme Disease with more than 30 days of abx and other doctors are going after them to remove their licenses. We are talking antibiotics here! Not some strange, untried, untested medicine. There is no other recourse for these LD patients who cannot be cured that anyone has come up with. Why are other doctors trying to prevent this treatment? What are they gaining?
Stop and think about what the motive might be. Insurance companies have enormous resources.
What is going on with Dr. Charles Ray Jones(it was mentioned in the article)
is downright chilling. I have attended a couple of his hearings and once again, the word surreal comes to mind. Both times I left the hearings thinking, What in God's name is going on here?.
