TEARS1998, Lyme cannot be transmitted through kissing. If this were the case, I think everyone would be infected.
Lyme disease can be passed through pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is my understanding that some doctors believe Lyme can be sexually transmitted but there are no proven cases. I would advise using protection as a precaution.
Thanks ticker (I'm scared )just asking because I'm totally new at this
and my daughter is 8 months pregnant, I would never forgive myself if anything happened!!!!!!
I've seen you mention this several times, and I have to wonder what you base it upon? Any studies done? Or some paper we can read? Edit I meant the part about kissing.
See page 21 of 30....on Pregnancy and Lyme Disease.
burgdorferi can cross the placenta and infect the fetus. In addition, breast milk from infected mothers has been shown to harbor spirochetes that can be detected by PCR and grown in culture.
(i hope i didn't break any rules by posting that, sorry if i did)

Sorry, I had to edit my original post; I meant to ask Ticker about the transmission via kissing, not the pregnancy part.
