Re: So does anybody know?.....

Hi 3love, I know that **31,**34,**39,**41,**83-93 are Lyme related.

Not sure on 30kda. 41kda is bacteria called Flagellin, 66kda is Outer membrane-spanning Oms 66 hsp outer/integral membrane protein. I have know idea what this means.

Hope this helps. Ticker has a breakdown that might be able to help you more.

Re: So does anybody know?.....

I'm going to ask my LLMD doctor on 9-11-07. I'll let you know what he says on the bands and other diseases.

Re: So does anybody know?.....

Bigstan, thank you so much! I will ask mine as well but my appointment is at the end of the month. I just wish I got the correct diagnosis. I read that Lupus is very similar to lyme, it's even called the "great imitator" just like lyme! I also read that Lupus can have a false positive for the syphilis antibody and since lyme is similar to syphilis....can you get a false positive lyme result, when infact you have Lupus?! That's why it would be great if I knew if the bands that I listed were ONLY for lyme.

I really would love to hear the explanation from a LLMD. I wish I had asked me LLMD at my last appointment. I forgot.

Later,
J

Re: So does anybody know?.....

Hi 3love,
I had a lyme site bookmarked and went back and checked it. Here's what I read.
The site is "public health alert" and then go to "text only version"
the article I found was "western blots made easy" June 2007 issue
Here's a quote from the article by Dr. Schaller
""However if you had a Western Blot done at a junk lab, please still glance at the result. Why? Because you may find, as I did with one relative, that one of the antibodies or "bands" was positive. In this relative, the band was a "fingerprint" band. Meaning, Lyme is the only organism that makes the human body make this antibody. The child was positive."
The article goes on to say there are nine known lyme specific western blot antibodies (bands): 18,23,31,34,37,39,83 and 93.
Check out the article. You should be able to do a search and find it. Let me know what you think? mc

Re: So does anybody know?.....

Hi mc, I think I read that say article! But did it say which band was the "fingerprint" band that the body only makes organisms for, when having lyme?

By the way, how are you doing?

Re: So does anybody know?.....

Hi 3love,
You know further in the article it says "Charles Ray Jones, MD Quotes Regarding Western Blots" "specific Western Blot antibodies (bands): 18,23,31,34,37,39,83 and 93"
So it seems like Dr. Jones regards those bands as specific for lyme. It even says only one band is needed for a clinical diagnosis. I believe those are the "fingerprint" bands they are talking about.
It does say lyme is the only organism that makes the human body make those antibodies.
You know I don't know. You are right about asking you doc. when you go. Maybe they can explain it better, if they even know for sure.
I'm about the same, but I did call a lyme doc. today. The appointment is not until oct. 3rd. but I'll take it. I'm in New Mexico and he is the only one in the state. He is an internal medicine doc. MD but does holistic med. as well. I hear he does both. I really want some strong antibiotics. I would like to see if that helps. I don't have time for the wheat grass s*** to kick in. I want to start getting better soon. I talked to him on the phone he seems like a nice guy. I'll let you know. How is your doc? Do you think your treatment is doing anything? mc

Re: So does anybody know?.....

Hey mc, I wonder why band 41 was not included. I thought that was lyme specific also?
It's good that you are finally going to be able to see a LLMD. LOL what is wheat grass s***?
As for me, this is my 5th day on ceftin (drug store only carries generic, so had to take that, doc said ok) other than my random joint/bone pain, numb like feeling around nose is worse, brain fog worse, and feeling like I was being poked with needles all around my body. Oh yeah, and I have muscle twitches over my knee joint alot and I've been having alot of mood swings. Still waiting for the "herx". I thought you were supposed to herx within a few days after starting treatment. It's day five for me...where's the herx?! Myabe this drug is not strong enough? Who knows?

Re: So does anybody know?.....

Hi 3love,
I think band 41 is not specific to lyme. It is suspose to be one of the first to show up but it indicates flagella. Article says "many organisms have flagella". I think something like syphillis would maybe have band 41 show up. That's what I get anyways.
What I mean about the wheat grass is just that I'm not the healthest eater. I'm not normally really bad or anything, but not into health foods. Especially during this past year.
Right now my attitude is I have something that is killing me and no one can tell me what it is. If I'm dying I'm going to enjoy as much ice cream and cheese cake as I can. What if they don't have ice cream and cheese cake on the other side?
I know this is not the right attitude but until I have some answers and a plan to get better I'm just not going to worry about what I eat. If I want a bowl of chocolate Haagen Dazs I'm going to have it! To me it really does feel like I have something terminal, so I'm going to splurge a little while I still can. LOL. Right now I'll just carry and extra 50lbs in reserve. Kind of like beefing up before the battle. I really don't want to die skinny. What a waste!
I hope you herx soon. Or at least can tell if the treatment is working. take care. mc

Re: So does anybody know?.....

Hi mctassi. Can you have a bowl of Haagan Daaz for me too That sounds good.
I don't know If i'm starting to herx or not but I have alot of migratory joint pain (never had this b4) and today, my upper body feels very achy and sore. It can't be from working out....haven't touched a dumb bell in awhile All in all, I feal weighed down.

P.S. Can I ask you what your screan name stands for? Don't have to answer if it's personal, k? Don't wanna intrude.

J

Re: So does anybody know?.....

Hi 3 love,
the name is just a combination of my daughter, niece and nephew's name. A couple of letters from each. Nothing special. Wouldn't it be nice if the herxing came on strong for a week or two and then you started to feel better. At least you would know it is working. I heard of people on antibiotics for 8 years. *** kind of disease is this? No one deserves this. I hope you start to make progress. mc
