Ladies Please - Perimenopause????

Arrgghhh....

I am 43, and have started (in the past 2 years) to have heavy and I mean heavy periods. Got sick June 06, but crashed Dec 06, Dx'd March 07 with Lyme and Babs.

My periods moved to 3 weeks apart (that was bad enough) in the past 2 years.

Now, I am starting 2 weeks apart from start to start. HOLY COW

This is NOT good! Not good for even a healthy body.

I know testing for perimenopause/menopause is not accurate (from what I have been told). Is it worth seeing a Dr. again for this (other than my every 2 yr checkup) or should I just resign myself to this being part of having Lyme?

Ah, the joys of womanhood....NOT

Re: Ladies Please - Perimenopause????

FlaGal, a friend of mine in very good health went through something very similar when she was just about your age. Can't say whether or not it's due to Lyme or treatment but it is possible that it's just normal for your body.

My gynocologist and I just discussed that testing for the stages of menopause is inaccurate because the hormones can fluctuate so often. That said, if I were you, I'd definitely make an appointment with my gynocologist, just to make sure there's nothing else going on. Good luck!
