Hi, I just saw the LLMD. Interesting field, really. Usually on the thyroid boards. Boy, do I need to educate myself. I live in Northern Virginia and saw Dr. Garzon in DC. He was very interested in learning about my history. Wasn't quick to judge and seemed to run the appropriate lab work as far as I can tell. Symptoms could be lyme related or not.
Igenix (sp??) lab work, CD-57 (??) some ANA test, and a few others. I guess it takes a while for the labs to return.
Anyway, wanted to thank posters for helpful information - Ticker especially. It really helped send me in the right direction and not feel bad about complaining to yet another doctor.
I am so glad you saw a Lyme doctor. It is hard waiting for results, but you are on your way to getting answers. IgeneX is a good lab for Lyme testing. I believe the majority of Lyme doctors use it for Lyme and co-infection testing.
You can read about the CD-57 test on page 8 of Dr. Burrascano's 2005 Diagnostic Hints and Treatment Guidelines For Lyme and Other Tick Borne Illnesses (on-line).
Some people, including myself, have Lyme and a thyroid disorder. It is a double whammy!
Did he start you on meds or is he waiting for the results?
