Some lab in Europe.
I've also heard about immunofluorescence test which should be the most accurate?
Which test should be the most accurate for chronic lyme?

Re: complement-fixing antibodies blood test accurate?

Hi vaio. As you probably know, no test for Lyme is completely reliable. Some people who have Lyme do not test positive.

Many Lyme doctors in the US use IgeneX Lab in Palo Alto, CA. One test called the Western Blot lists a series of numerical bands with a positive, negative, or IND rating after each one. Although the CDC requries several bands to be positive for the test to be positive, many people who have Lyme do not have this many bands. Lyme doctors often look at which bands are present. Some are specific for Lyme. This may be a good test for you to have done.

You may want to contact the lab to see if there are other tests they recommend for chronic Lyme.

Re: complement-fixing antibodies blood test accurate?

I tried to contact the lab, they don't know anything about lyme, they have only this complement-fixing test probably because they bought the lab devices from US and not because doctors actually ask any pt. for this test. No doctor here knows about lyme, although the country is in the are area of the world map where lyme is present.

Without a good doctor or a reliable test, it's impossible to get diagnosed with lyme since it so many common symptoms with other diseases such as fibromyalgia, CFS, MS, etc. I've tried to mention lyme to a few doctors, they not only never heard of it, but looked to me like I was totally crazy.

Hi vaio. We all know the crazy look you are talking about! Lyme is definitely in Europe so I don't know why it is not acknowledged. The only Lyme doctor I know of in Europe is in Germany.

Do you have a doctor who might be willing to take your blood and send it to IgeneX? They can send you a kit to take to your doctor. Your results will be reported to the doctor.
