Four years ago whilst on holiday in Cyprus i ad a bite on my leg.... I thought nothing of it until a friend advised me to go to the Dr as it looked quite nasty and made a comparison to the bite resembling "ring worm".... I reluctantly visited my Dr (i am not one for Dr) who gave me a px of cream and stated it was nothing to worry about...
Shortly after, the bite did clear up.... However i did start to lose weight dispite no real change to my diet.... I had some bloods taken and discovered i ad a low B12 count which needed me to have a course of injection which i did... i ask the nurse if a low B12 could be the reason for me feeling hungry and tired all the time, she agreed so again i thought nothing of it....
A few months passed and i started to wake-up each morning feeling drunk and a little of balance... this would last for a few hours then eventually pass... again i visted my Dr who sugessted it was stress related which at the time i sort of agreeded with him having a stressful job etc...i then had some personal isseues and wasnt really focusing on my health until recently....
For the last 8 months i av never felt so poorly.... it began with pins and needles in hands and feet, electric shock feelings in hands, panic attacks, sickness, vomiting, headache(like my brain was floating around in my head), my ears would pop, numbness in my left arm, my body was visabley shaking... the only thing i could keep down was water and lots of it.... this lasted 6-8weeks before my Dr advised my to go to the Hospital....
They intially treated me for Menningits... i was given IV antibiotics incase it was... i had to go through test after test including a lumber puncture which all came back negative... i was discharged with anxiety headaches....the antibiotics however did make me feel a little better i only had 4-5 lots....
However since then i have felt worse with more symptoms than before i feel physically i have deteriated... i now experience alot of pain in my back, shoulders, ribs, i feel muscle twitches all over, more anxiety than before.... somedays i just dont want to do anything, dizzy spells like car sickness when im not even in a car....craking noises in my neck.... waking up feeling hot n bothered...the list is endless...
I am worried that i may have contracted Lyme Disease....
It sounds from your symptoms that Lyme is a good thing to check out. Ticker will reply with lots of good information. There is a lot on these boards as well. As yu can see from the posts,
Many of us have been told- It's all in your head' becuase of the way we are attacked ALL OVER our body
Many of us have dealt with drs who do not know ANYTHING about Lyme
Many of us have been loking for YEARS for a diagnosis
Many of us have found relief- there is hope.
I am sorry you are feeling so poorly. I am glad you are no longer shrugging it off- you will have to take charge of your health at this point if it is Lyme- the patient has to be reasearcher and advocate and drive for resolution. You will be really lucky if you can find an internist who will coordinate all of the conflicting information you get from various medical professionals.
The most important thing to do is to find a LYME Literate Doc (LLMD). There have been a few people on here loking for LLMDs in the UK. You can find Doc names if you do a search on the threads.
Good luck! Keep us posted!
For a while now its been like i am trying to piece a jigsaw of my health back together.... i had never heard of Lyme until i looked into anxiety as thats what i have been experiencing... when i did look into lyme and a picture of a bite i was shocked to discover how simular it was to the one i had....
I have already contacted a LLMD, but i need to get a letter from my Dr first... I am worried that my Dr will not take me SERIOUSLY as he is treating me for anxiety... i have appt on Fri...
I am concered if i do have Lyme Disease and it has been left untreated all this time what affect it has had on my body....????

It is very important to see a kowledgeable doctor. Many doctors do not understand Lyme and treat with outdated protocols. No test is completely reliable, and results can vary by lab. It is my understanding that the ELISA or titer is the least reliable test and the one most doctors run first.
Besides Lyme, ticks can also transmit several co-infections including Babesiosis, two types of Ehrlichiosis (HME & HGE), Bartonella, and Mycoplasma. Many people who have Lyme are co-infected. It may affect treatment choice and progress. It is important to be tested for these by a Lyme reputable lab such as IgeneX in Palo Alto, CA.
If you need a doctor recommendation, let us know.
It is also important to learn as much as possible. I recommend reading Dr. Joseph Burrascano's 2005 Diagnostic Hints and Treatment Guidelines For Lyme and Other Tick Borne Illnesses (on-line). He is one of the top Lyme doctors in the country, and many Lyme doctors follow his protocols. I also recommend the book "Everything You Need To Know about Lyme Disease (2nd edition)" by Karen Vanderhoof-Forschner.
Yeh it was kind of like a bite then around it my skin was very white and red... it did itch more so after using cream Dr gave to use... also it appeared to look bruised.... Not long after i remeber my legs constantly itching especially after a bath or at night in bed... they itched that much i could not keep the duvet over them....
I have almost the exact same symptoms as you. i've been posting on the infectious disease thread because my dr. diagnosed it as a skin infection + anxiety, but i feel very strongly that i may have lyme disease. i was bitten by something in a movie theater in late august. i felt silly saying that though (what kind of bug is in a movie theater?) so i never told anyone. now i've had a constant inflamed area on the nape of my neck and i'm in so much pain i want to get checked into the hospital. i'm so glad i found your post and all the advice that everyone's given. i need to make a new post to find an LLMD in New York City stat.
