PICC Line Approval!

I just found out this morning that my insurance has approved a PICC line for me!!!!!!!

Just had to share the good news.

Also, can anyone give me an idea what to expect when I have the PICC line put in? Is it really painful?

Re: PICC Line Approval!

Hey KeyLyme.

Great news about the PICC line getting approved.

I had my PICC inserted in my LLMD's office with no pain killers or muscles relaxers at all. I DO NOT recommend doing it that way. I was so scared I was shaking and it hurt like you wouldn't believe.

However, my nurse is an angel and she had it in very very quickly. Once it was in, I didn't feel a thing. I've had it in 5 months and I've no troubles with it at all.

You'll do fine! We'll be there with you, ok? Let us know what day you're getting it.

Peace and health,
Mickie

Re: PICC Line Approval!

Hi KeyLyme ~ I love your screen name

Congratulations on the approval and best wishes to you. I have my first appt with a LLMD in December. It can't come any faster for me as this has been a very long road I have traveled.

Please do keep us posted.

Re: PICC Line Approval!

I'm going in Wednesday morning to get it done. The nurse said that they will put Litocane (spelling?) so it won't hurt as bad.

Does anyone know if Rocephin interacts w/ Lithium? My psychiatrist had to put me on Lithium b/c I'm having horrible panic attacks. I don't want to tell my LLMD that I'm on Lithium b/c of the stigma associated w/ it.

Thanks!

Re: PICC Line Approval!

It's always a good idea to tell your LLMD all the mediciation supplements you take. Try not to worry about the stigma, please let him/her know.

We'll thinking about you wednesday.

Re: PICC Line Approval!

My insurance company just notified me that they will let me have the PICC who however long I need it!! I'm absolutely ecstatic!

I called my psychiatrist and he said that the lithium will not interfere w/ my IV antibiotics.
