Hi, i am sorry if this has been asked before. i scrolled through a couple pages and couldn't find anything aside from a mention of Columbia University. Does anyone know a good LLMD in New York City? I've been posting on the infectious disease board since my dr. diagnosed as bacterial infection with potential staph (though i've been to 4 drs and only 2 of them have looked at the rash), but he keeps saying the extreme joint pain and stiffness is in my head. a neurologist told me today that it is inflamed nerves related to fibromyalgia i developed. as i look at the symptoms of lyme, i feel like i'm reading back all the feelings i've been experiencing. any help in the NYC area is appreciated. i feel a huge sense of anxiety to get this taken care of right away.
Thank you so much. The dermatologist I saw called me this morning to check and see if I'd been tested for it. I told her no, so she's ordering the test but it's going through Quest Labs which I read is not the best place to do it. Would I be better off not doing it there at all and doing it somewhere else, or is it still likely their test would show up?
if i am on antibiotics already (for 6 days now) will i get a false negative?
Ok, i will try to get a dr. to send some blood there for testing. I should get the Quest results back on Friday, so i'm trying to decide if i should just wait and see what those say or if i should go ahead and ask them to send to igenex too. Right now a dermatologist is ordering all the tests, so i'm going to try to find a new general practitioner to speak about this to. my current dr. is convinced i have a mild sinus infection even though i get those all the time and i'm telling him this is not even close.
i got a call from the dermatologist, and she said the Quest W. Bolt test that i took yesterday was negative. i haven't seen the results to know what it actually looked like, but it seems from this board that it isn't a simple "positive/negative" response. the test results had the wrong name on them (apparently my sister was already in the computer at the lab so they assumed i was her) which also sort of bothers me.
i'm not trying to wish myself into a diagnosis here, but at the same time i want to make sure i'm getting the absolute correct information. i was bitten by something on my scalp earlier in the summer. a couple days later i found a tick in my sheets (no idea how... could it be the same one?). now 4 months later i am having some terrible symptoms. i didn't even think of lyme disease until someone suggested i check it out (started out looking into staph b/c that's what my dr. diagnosed my rash as at first), but the symptoms seem pretty close on to what i'm experiencing. 7 days of clarithromycin hasn't helped, and i'd like to tackle whatever is making me feel this way.
