I am awaiting the results of my Igenex lyme test, but the lyme specialist I have seen in the Bay Area is pretty sure I have it.
I am curious to get a second opinion on an issue: If I have lyme disease, are there risks of me, as a man, passing lyme on to our child? My wife and I are not pregnant yet, as far as we know, but we wanted to get a second opinion about this.
Thank you for any help on learning about this issue!
Hi Forest- Welcome to the board! You are very good and responsible to ask. I feel bad that you are a new poster and I do not have wonderful news for you. The board has been active today so I want to bring your question back tot the top. I do not have a lot of knowldge on this topic but there have been threads in the past on it. You should look them up look for 'sexually transmitted'. What I remember from the thread is that a man can pass it to his wife and there are documented cases of mothers passing to babies. There are women with Lyme on this thread who have that situation. There must be ways to improve your chances of a healthy outcome. Like maybe wear a condum if it is not the fertile time. I'd definitely research it. Best wishes for the future.
Hi Forest....This is something you really need to talk to your doctor about. If you are seeing the doctor in San Fran I would feel safe with what he tells you...
Some of the people on here feel as though they pass it from partner to partner..which would make sense beings lyme gets in every part of us and in our fluids..It is in the syphillis family so in my thoughts I would be extremly careful on trying to have a baby until you got it under control...That is just my opinion from what I have read....
Sorry to hear that you are positive ...BUT the good news is...You have one of the Best Doctors that there is...AND you are truly fortunate that you got a positive and now you know exactly what you are dealing with.
Everyone here on this board are just awesome with sharing what has worked best or hasn't worked. So remember don't be shy about asking questions!
