I had another lyme titer test done a western blot as well. It tested the IgG and IgM. The screen was borderline at 0.91. In the IgG part..band 41kD came back abnormal. I am on Doxycycline AGAIN and hopefully will feel better with this 2nd round of meds. I am curious as to what this band means?

Hi Mepmom. Which lab did the Western Blot? IgeneX uses more sensitive testing and lists more bands on the Western Blot.

The IgM tests for a more recent infection and the IgG a longer standing one. From what I understand, band 41 is often the first to show.

What dose of Doxy are you taking? Have you been tested for the co-infections? How long did you take Doxy previously?

this is round #2 for Doxy..I take 100mg 2x day. First time was for three weeks. Then off anything for 2 months (cause no one believed me that I still felt like crap) Now I am on for 6 weeks. And I was tested for co-infections but not sure if a westernblot was done for each one. All came back neg.

Not sure what lab did it, I think it was one called Quest

Hi Mepmom. I highly recommend that you see a Lyme doctor so you can get properly treated. 200 mg of Doxy daily is not strong enough for Lyme. I believe the recommended dose is 300-600 mg daily.

The Western Blot is a test for Lyme. The co-infections are separate blood tests.

From what I understand, Quest is not a reliable lab for tick-borne illness testing.
