Allergy reaction to Doxycycline.

How do I find out if I am allergic to the drug other than taking it?

I was thinking of opening a capsule, spilling out three quarters of the powder and taking it and see if anything happens. If I am allergic than I should get some reaction.

The thing is I heard that sometimes even if you are allergic the reaction can come a week or two or more later.

Some years back my brother had some bad reactions to antibiotics so I am a little jittery. I myself have quite a few food allergies, but I’ve never really been on any medications other than allergy related ones. (Claritin, nose sprays, inhalers etc.)
