I have been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and I think a lot. I have had blood taken over a dozen times in the last 5 months and they haven't shown anything abnormal. I got an eeg of the brain and mri with and without contrast a week ago and they turned out good except for a venous angioma which isn't a problem. It seems that anxiety disorder symptoms and Lyme Disease symptoms are similar. I feel like i have an underlying illness that they won't find until i die (sad i know) and hopeless. I get really ill and take xanax to relieve my attacks. I'm wondering if since the tests came back ok if I don't have lyme or if there's a chance that I do even with all the blood tests and scans I've had.
Hello, sorry you are feeling "hopeless". There are many of us that have gotten like that. I would suggest going to a doctor that specializes in Lyme Disease. Test are not accurate for Lyme. And many other bacteria (s) and virus's. In the long run it might save you time and energy by going to someone that could diagnoise you.
Yes lyme can do what you are speaking of. I use to think that was my normal brain to go 100 miles an hour...now after treatment it has calmed "WAY" down.
If you are thinking of going to a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor you might want to post a new thread asking where the closest one is.

Good Luck to you!
Well I've had numerous tests and tried numerous anti depressants and they make me sicker, and my anxiety is all out of wack. Can Lyme kill you? I've had about a dozen blood tests but I don't know if any of the blood tests would rule out lyme, because over the summer I worked at a factory and did some outside work with bushes and trees loading em' carrying em' etc. I never felt an initial tick bite, but it could be something different, my brain shows nothing abnormal, my heart is fine, lungs fine, blood tests fine, I just feel so ill it's unbeleiveable the only thing that helps is my xanax and they changed me over to Klonopin today to give me something stronger and relieve some of my seizure activity and anxiety. My passing out starts off from stomach cramps, but my initial symptoms are(during a "panic attack"): heart racing, nausea, headache, lonely, helpless/hopeless, cold sweats, hot flashes, abdominal distress, sudden shocks of dizziness and lightheadedness, some chest pain. If i'm not in the heat of an attack my everyday symptoms are: dread, nausea, headaches off and on, feeling out of it, cramps off and on, dizziness. What do you guys think?
Hi,
I don't think I'd be much help to you because I don't have lyme but my sister does. She had anxiety and her hands and arms hurt so much she couldn't type or write. She also has seizures now. We never found a tick bite on her but we assume she had one at some point. Lyme tests are often not 100% accurate but in NJ there's a huge prevalancy of lyme so there are a number of specialists in the state. You can always find a directory of doctors.
none of the tests you've mentioned having would show lyme. even the tests they do for lyme now are nowhere near 100%. Lyme is a clinical diagnosis - meaning the doctor takes your history and your symptoms and makes a diagnosis. most will also do testing but as i said, the testing is nowhere near 100% and most LLMD's do not rely on the testing.

Well I read about Lyme and it seems to always start with a rash. I don't have any kind of rash but I do have the symptoms which are very similar to anxiety, I just feel like they are a little worse, I know anxiety can be a scary thing but this is a little to scary.
Only approximately 30% of people with lyme ever had any kind of rash. there are many symptoms as someone posted earlier. if you have several of those you might want to see someone knowledgeable about lyme.
