Red streaks on skin?

Do any of you get red streaks that suddenly appear on your skin that have the appearance of a long scratch? I get these marks regularly on my arms, stomach and back. I'll notice a very slight burning sensation, and if I look at the area I can actually see the "scratch" appear. Sometimes it's just a red streak, anywhere from 2-4 inches long. Other times it's a white raised line (exactly as if a cat scratched me) with red on the outside. It's happened regularly for years. Sometimes the mark disappears within a couple hours. Sometimes it sticks around for a couple days. I would really like to know if this is something that's Lyme related. Thanks!

kd

Re: Red streaks on skin?

Hi Kdmari, sounds like Bartonella to me. (cat scratch fever) look it up on line. You should find pictures the rashes it makes...

I had this and my test came out negative. But then I also tested neg. for Lyme and Babesia....Test are not accurate even by the best of labs.

Hugs

Hi kd. I agree, Bartonella causes these kind of marks.

Re: Red streaks on skin?

Is Bartonella caused transmitted by tick bites? Is it related to Lyme at all? I'll have to do some research. thanks...

Re: Red streaks on skin?

Hi kdmari. Besides Lyme disease, ticks can transmit several co-infections
including Bartonella, Babesiosis, two types of Ehrlichiosis (HME & HGE), and Mycoplasma. Many people who have Lyme are co-infected. It is important to be tested for these by a Lyme lab such as IgeneX. Have you been tested for them? Many Lyme doctors believe the co-infections need to be treated first for Lyme treatment to be effective.

Re: Red streaks on skin?

Thanks for all your input. I'm currently trying to get in to see a Lyme specialist here in Canada. Hopefully I'll get some answers then.

Thanks a lot!
