Re: High blood sugar reading?

My daughter has experienced high readings for months steadily. And when I say high, I mean 500's plus. Her endo could not figure it out and would send her to numerous docs. I was pretty sure she had lyme or something since it all started out of no where. Before all of this she had perfect glucose control. I found her a doc and he immediately tested her for bartonella and she has two strains.

Since being on meds she is doing SO MUCH BETTER She was put on zithro a month and a half ago and went into DKA two days later from the herx. Then she continued to stay high again. Several weeks ago she was put on Biaxim and one week later she had a herx and ended up in ICU. Since then she has only been high once (311), other than that she is getting her control back. She had ran very low for several weeks straight. Her doc took her off insulin pump and put her back on regular injections and now she is down to around 25 units a day and that is long lasting and covering meals. She was using over a 100 a day before due to the infection. Her doc said that was enough for a 300 lb man. You can read some of my postings for more detail.

Are you a diabetic? Do you have lyme?

Re: High blood sugar reading?

yes i actually have both. about 3 yrs ago and a long battle i was finally diagnosed with lyme. i endured the 58 or so days of a pic line and a few short rounds of oral antibiotics, my readings never ran higher than say 170 or so after a meal. lately i feel i am almost back to where i was originally before my diagnosis. since i have experienced what i feel is a relapse i am now experiencing higher readings 200+ even 300+ if i dont watch. i am going to my dr this month but he's no llmd. i always suspected my initial diagnosis of type 2 diabetes was related to an undiagnosed lyme infection. i did notice when i am on a course of abx my glucose readings are much better. as previously stated anyone with any input on this subject will be greatly appreciated for there advice or opinions
