Hi bsimons14. I would have responded sooner but I am still having computer problems.
I am sure you are very relieved to finally have answers! I am glad you have started treatment. Often when a person has band 45 positive, it means they have the co-infection Ehrlichiosis (there are two types). This was true in my case. Your band 45 is equivocal so the doctor may be treating you for this.
To answer your questions to the best of my ability: 1.) From your objective opinion are these results significant enough to prove many of the symptoms I had were lyme related.
Yes. Your results are very positive. Lyme Disease is a multi-system bacterial infection and it can cause many different symptoms. 2.)If you had to measure the results on a severity scale from 1-10 , 1 being mild lyme and 10 being severe lyme where do you think it would lie. Since I've had Lyme for 2+ years I'm assuming my recovery will be longer than average.
There is really no way to answer this. Your tests are very positive; yet some people who have Lyme never test positive. Tickborne illnesses affect everyone differently and there are many variables involved. Yes it may take longer treatment for someone who has been sick longer but again each case is different. Having co-infections definitely affects treatment choice and progress. 3.)How long does typical recovery take? Do Lyme symptoms ever reoccur, how do you avoid that.
Sorry, but again there is really no way to answer this. Some people have said to expect treatment to last at least as long as the infection, but it depends on your situation. Some people respond sooner, some respond later. Part of the difficulty is that there is no best antibiotic for everyone. It can take time to find the best one for each case. Most Lyme doctors will treat until a person is symptom free and at least two months longer. It is possible for symptoms to reoccur, but I would think that getting the proper treatment will help to minimize this. 4.) If it turns out Lyme was the culprit of many of these symptoms wouldn't it only be right to seek legal help. Considering my doctors knew I had Lymes several times, under treated me, and brushed me off as a hypochondriac visit after visit.
I can certainly understand your frustrations. Many people who have Lyme saw many different doctors over a long period of time before getting a proper diagnosis. From what I have heard, it it may be difficult to prove negligence. I think you would be better off concentrating on getting well. A lawsuit would take a lot of time, energy, and stamina.
I am so glad that you got some answers!
