Please help me with my lyme and co-infections!!!

I have had lyme disease along with the co infections (babesia, mycoplasma fermentens herpese B virus and erliceosis) for 15 years and have been treated on and off by various doctors. The doctor who first diagnosed me put on an IV of rocephen for 9 months- that was about 8 years ago. He then got sick and stopped practice. From there I went to Dr. who moved to NYC. He was very good and treated me for lyme and my co- infections. I couldn't afford to go to nyc so that left me with not having any treatment for my disease for 6 years. This Spring of 2009 I desperately went to another dr. D in Falmouth MA HUGE MISTAKE!!! He put me on Plaquenil and Biaxin- His demeanor was extremely rude and when I tried to discuss my issues with co-infections he told me quite bluntly he didnt believe in co infections- and when I started to pull out of my bag all of the literature and my blood work showing the co-infections he loudly stood up opened the door and said there is no evidence of any co infections in any medical literature.

Living in MA there are not any doctors who treate or know how to even test for lyme and co infections. I have been to all of the top hospitals in Boston MA for years only to be told by the highest of doctors in there field that there is nothing wrong with me.

Any help for doctors would be greatly appreciated- Please help me I am very sick again

Re: Please help me with my lyme and co-infections!!!

Hi IhateLyme, welcome to the board!

I am sorry you have been sick for so long. I believe I know who the doctor you saw is. I know several people who had the same experience you did with him. As someone who has had several co-infections, I personally know they exist (I wish they didn't though!) Having co-infections can affect treatment choice and progress.

Hang in there okay? Good help is available, and you are not alone.
