Re: Almost convinced that I have lyme, but want to see what you think....

Hello I am new to this, so i will give you a quick story. I am almost in the same boat as the original poster, with the exception of the amt of time, my symptoms have been around at least 6 months. To make a long story short i would like to ask about western blot test.

My doctor told me the western blot was neg. so i asked her for the results.

she said i was at 45 and i need to be at 91 igg ? i have been searching for days and cant figure out what that means.

anyhelp would be appreciated

Re: Almost convinced that I have lyme, but want to see what you think....

I already took abx twice, is it ok to stop? I'm not too worried about taking them. After a little research it seems like a moderate dosage.

I looked for acillinmax and could only find it in UK stores. What about just a garlic supplement from a health food store?

I go to the gym often, they have a sauna so I'll do that. I also ride my bike a lot. I'll drink a lot of water.

I'm not sure if this person is an LLMD specifically, but someone sent me 4 recommended docs. I called around and asked questions if they specifically deal with lyme disease, they said yes, so we'll find out I guess. Only one out of the 4 places had an opening within a month.

Thanks for your response.

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). This common and rapid test to identify Lyme disease antibodies is the most sensitive screening test for Lyme disease.

Indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA). This test also screens for Lyme disease antibodies.
Western blot test. This test also identifies Lyme disease antibodies and can confirm the results of an ELISA or IFA test. It is most often done to detect a chronic Lyme disease infection."

As far as I'm aware the Elisa test is extremely unreliable, I had 2 negative elisa tests before testing positive on the Iginex WB.

Lyme is diagnosed on a clinical basis based on symptoms and history, not just tests! The tests are used to support the diagnosis.

The only thing that makes me doubt is that when I pulled it off, I thought nothing of it and didn't examine what it was. I just remember seeing a small black thing on my stomache, then removing it with tweezers. I guess it coulda been something else but signs point to it being a tick. It was only later when I wasn't feeling well that I thought back to that day when someone casually mentioned lyme disease. I don't even remember if I was already feeling badly when I discovered that thing on my stomache, or if that's about when it started.

It's probably lyme I just tend to doubt myself especially when everyone else keeps telling me I'm wrong...

It really is up to you regarding taking the abx. If you do indeed have lyme, you may find you get a sudden worsening of symptoms, which could be caused by a herx reaction, which can also be another tell tale sign of having lyme.

Any garlic supplement is not the same, as most of these do not contain allicin, I'm not sure if there is a US equivalent, but eating raw crushed garlic will give you the same benefits.

I would also recommend Chlorella and oreganol.

DOING THAT TOO.

Went to the dr., handed her a printout from canlyme on symptoms. I only listed the symptoms i know i have for a fact, i had 40 of 75. She tossed the list asside without even hardly looking at it. Then when my results come in she doesnt even know what they mean.

I also explained i am high risk,

1. we raise labradors
2. i am an avid deer and elk hunter
3 we live in the woods
4 we have deer roam our property

she could have cared less

I would seriously consider going to see an LLMD, your doctor obviously has no knowledge about Lyme, her interpretation of your test results doesn't make any sense. Could you ask for a copy of your results perhaps?

My thoughts exactly, those results dont seem to make sense. I thinking that was the #'s of the bands.
Im trying to get the results but its an hours drive, and i am not up to it right now. I dont feel safe driving. Almost wrecked on the way to my last appt.

Re: Almost convinced that I have lyme, but want to see what you think....

Talked to a buddy of mine who got bit by a tick 20 years ago, they said he had Rocky mt spotted fever. His life has been screwed ever since. He had to give up a carreer in the air force over it. Now hes fighting them for disability, it happened on duty. He has all the typical signs of advanced lymes. He diagnosed himself with rmsf. Hes all messed up. I got him to watch under our skin and he could only watch 10 mins. He said he would try again in a day or two. Hes really in bad shape no insurance at all

Re: Almost convinced that I have lyme, but want to see what you think....

ok, I think I'm having a "herx" reaction. Well I hope that's what this is.... Suddenly, my lower back is quite painful. It is impossible to bend at the waist, and I can't really look down with my head. I have to sit up perfectly straight in my chair.

Other than that, I think I'm feeling better overall.

Re: Almost convinced that I have lyme, but want to see what you think....

Ok another odd symptom. I'm about average weight/height, with a relatively athletic build, but - my muscles (particularly around my stomache) seems way more flabby than usual. Is this normal??? I'm worried something else is going on. It's like suddenly I became less "wide" and more fat.
