Re: anyone misdiagnosed with MS???

I was told I had M.S. at one point...but then I was told I had every illness under the sun. Like many people do with Lyme.

Even after years of treatment for Lyme, if I get stressed, my muscles turn to mush.

I have read that there are many reasons for M.S. ...such as bacterial, viral...

Another bacteria to look into is chlamydia Pnumoniae. There are a few specialist out there treating this bacteria. It is much easier to spread like through sneezing, coughing...it causes many of the same aliments as Lyme.
the doc that I see specializes in this bacteria.

Have you been tested for Lyme or co-infections such as Babesia, Bartonella, Erchliosis, Epstein Barr, Cytomeglovirus, Chlamydia Pnumoniae, Mycoplasma Pnumonaie...there are many others...

IF you have been diagnoised with M.S., it might be a good idea to be tested through Igenex lab, Palo Alto, Ca. From where you are sitting you can find them.
They can send you a test kit, you have to have a doctor to sign off for the blood work.

I have learned, that we get a diagnoises, look for the answers for what "could" be causing your problem.

Good Luck to you in finding your answers.

Re: anyone misdiagnosed with MS???

I was convinced I had MS, then I was convinced I had Fibromyalgia, now I am thinking Lyme and its looks like I was right. It is so frustrating!!! Not only do we have to deal with our illness we have to deal with people rolling their eyes and thinking we are hyperchondriacs. I feel like saying why would anyone make this stuff up. I am getting to the point where I make a joke of it because I am fed up with people's responses. If I hear do some exercise it'll make you feel better I think I will scream. Would love to just take them out of their bodies for half an hour and give them mine - that would shut them up lol. Sorry had to vent. Don't know whats worse MS or Lyme, I think Lyme cause at least people are sympathetic towards MS and know something about it.

Re: anyone misdiagnosed with MS???

Had EGC's, catscans, 2 x MRI's, nerve induction tests at the beginning, sweat tests - a whole load of things, doctors in Australia still tell you its Fibromyalgia ... they don't recognise Lyme here.

Re: anyone misdiagnosed with MS???

I was diagnosed with "possible/probable RRMS", nice name for yea it may be but we aren't sure. Still have that diagnosis although I think all my issues are chronic lyme. I was not diagnosed with anything until after 3 bouts of optic neuritis and lots of numbness and tingling! Good luck to you and just take it one day at a time!

Re: anyone misdiagnosed with MS???

I had all the symptoms you are referring to also and was diagnosed with MS by three different doctors. I have had optic neuritis several times too. BUT, 2 weeks ago I got bit by a deer tick and now have the bulls-eye rash. My pain is worse and I just feel like warmed over crap.....I AM beginning to wonder if it has been Lyme disease all along. I am not much help to you but I just wanted you to know that there is someone out here like you.....wondering.

Re: anyone misdiagnosed with MS???

Hi Vacant, are you doing any type of treatment for Lyme?
Lyme can cause/mimic over 300 medical conditions. Lyme can cause M.S.

You might want to post your own thread below if you would like feed back

I'm going through that right now. It's so hard to get doctors to listen.

Re: anyone misdiagnosed with MS???

When I first got so sick last year (Oct 2011) I thought I was dying. I was in the hospital twice. They ran every test under the sun. They did a spinal tap, mri's and ct scan looking for MS. The doctors thought I had atypical MS. The neurologist thought I had some type of disease related to MS.
However, all tests relating to this came back negative. They had no answers for me...other than that I was a "zebra amongst horses".
Thank God someone I knew had a relative with Lyme. They referred me to an llmd. I got bloodwork done thru Igenex. I had lyme, babesia, and bartonella (along with Epstein Barr and Ehrlichia)...
I would get to an llmd for help.
