Angry Dermatomyositis and Lyme Disease

I don't know which came first, but I've been diagnosed with both of these diseases. It's been over a year, and I still don't feel good. Taking prednisone - and getting fat! Any one with long term prospects and what to watch out for?

Re: Dermatomyositis and Lyme Disease

You''re certain the Dermatomyositis isn't a symptom of Lyme. Right? I ask because taking steroids, like Prednisone, could actually make your Lyme worse. Are you seeing an LLMD (Lyme specialist)? If not, I would strongly advise this. See the post at the top titled "Lyme Newbies".

Wish you the very best with this.

Re: Dermatomyositis and Lyme Disease

I went to my Dr. this week, because I was really feeling bad. He re-checked for Lyme, but called today to say I had no current Lyme disease. However, my dermatomyositis is worse. I've had break-outs this week, and pretty bad edema in my feet and legs, and tightness in my chest. He put me on a "water pill," and it seems to have at least cleared some of the fog from my head. I hate it when I can't think. Thank you for your response. Good luck w/ yours.
