Lyme Disease rash on my 2-year old?
Every weekend, I bring my son up to Folsom, LA, where the land is mostly mowed grass areas. We try to stay away from the woodsy areas. Last week I noticed my two year old son had a very faint ring around a bug bite on his leg. I had just noticed it that day, whether it was there before that day, I'm not sure. The next day, the faint ring around it was totally gone, but I brought him to the doctor anyway to make sure it wasn't Lyme disease. The doctor didn't think it was Lyme disease because the ring was gone the next day and it hadn't expanded anymore.
Could you please put my mind at ease and tell me what else could have caused that ring? I'm still nervous that maybe I should have pushed for him to get antibiotics anyway just to make sure, but I'm also nervous about giving him the course of antibiotics.

A bulls eye rash is one of the more reliable indicators of Lyme Disease. Any doctor, other than a Lyme specialist, does not understand the signs, symptoms or how to treat. Catching lyme early one has an excellent chance of recovery if . . . properly treated. Please ready the post at the top of this board titled "Lyme Newbies". You need a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (an LLMD) to see your son. You can contact national lyme associations for the name of one in your area.
I wish you all the best with this!
