Question How conclusive are spinal tap result?

Hi All,

I hear so much about people being misdiagnosed with MS and am just wondering if a spinal tap is confirmation of MS?

Has anyone with Lyme who was previously misdiagnosed with MS had a spinal tap that showed possible MS when it really was Lyme?

Can a spinal tap conclusively rule out Lyme?

A little background info....

My neurologist said the spinal showed antibodies for an autoimmune disease that is attacking my brain and has now referred me to an MS specialist for confirmation. I also had a MRI of my brain that showed lesions, which we know can be also been Lyme. I just don't want to be misdiagnosed so wondering if anyone knows if a spinal is conclusive for not only MS but also Lyme. The neurologist stated it showed negative for Lyme but I'm just wondering about the coinfections, if that would show??

Any info you can offer would be great!!
Thanks,
JG
