Can anyone identify w/ these symptoms - very frustrating! - Lymphomas Message Board

About seven years ago I experienced a problem with a swollen feeling in my right groin and left underarm which would cause aches, burning sensations, and some pain in those two limbs. No doctor could find anything wrong with me and didn't feel any swollen lymph nodes, but I was 26 at the time and didn't pursue further tests because my symptoms went away (except that my left shoulder/underarm would ache from time to time and sometimes feel a little swollen underneath).

Now I am having the same symptoms again, in the same two places! Except that this time it started in my right groin and felt like a pulled muscle and that it has basically stopped hurting there and now my left arm is hurting most. My doctor also now thinks she can feel something swollen in my right groin, maybe a lymph node. Has anyone experienced anything similar? What could this be, and since it basically went away for seven years could it still be something bad or life-threatening like cancer?

Your first experience sounds like nothing serious to me, and I doubt it had anything to do with your lymphatic system. Concerning your current situation, even if the swelling did originate from a lymph node, the fact it is aching implies it is probably reactive (e.g. due to infection). Or, simply a normal palpable node. Since your post lacked other details, I can not interpret it any further.

"Swelling" itself can be caused by many reasons, but has nothing to do with the topic of this forum. I suggest you refer those complaints to your doctor. If you're diagnosed with lymphadenopathy (lymph node(s) enlargement), include in your next post how large your nodes are and whether you noticed any change in their size, and if you also experience any other systematic symptoms (fever, night sweats, weight loss etc.). Then I could address your questions in a better manner.

hi,
I noticed your thread and thought I'd write to you,as I too have had the same symptoms as yourself for the last few weeks.I too went to my doctor who could not find anything wrong with me!.
I am only writing in the hope that if you manage to find out anything you could pass on any useful conclusions .
I am 35 now,male,and have not had these symptoms before (in my whole life!)
The only thing I have done recently is move to a new area , to a new home, so I'm thinking it's got something to do with my environment, or the location of the house!
It may sound daft, but the house is quite close to a motorway/freeway(so vibrations?)
muscle tension etc?
It is also quite close to electric pylons (so radiation?)
If any of this sounds familiar then any thoughts you have would be gratefully appreciated

I go to a rheumatologist next week for the possibility of an autoimmune disorder and then back to the surgeon the following week to have a biopsy done (either for peace of mind or as a next step...all depending on what the rheum. says).

I'll let you know what I find out! It's nice to know that someone else has experienced these weird symptoms. Do you get a swollen feeling as well, and are yours on opposite sides of the body?

I don't know if this will put you at ease at all but all the reasearch I've done on lymphoma, there is no pain in the lymphnodes, so it's probably not lymphoma. Good luck!!
