Your first experience sounds like nothing serious to me, and I doubt it had anything to do with your lymphatic system. Concerning your current situation, even if the swelling did originate from a lymph node, the fact it is aching implies it is probably reactive (e.g. due to infection). Or, simply a normal palpable node. Since your post lacked other details, I can not interpret it any further.
"Swelling" itself can be caused by many reasons, but has nothing to do with the topic of this forum. I suggest you refer those complaints to your doctor. If you're diagnosed with lymphadenopathy (lymph node(s) enlargement), include in your next post how large your nodes are and whether you noticed any change in their size, and if you also experience any other systematic symptoms (fever, night sweats, weight loss etc.). Then I could address your questions in a better manner.
