I have had a swollen lymphnode under my jaw line near my ear on the right side of my neck for atleast 7 months, and another one that comes and goes, but that one is very, very small. I have been to my regular Dr. and have also had 2 ultrasounds and bloodwork done. Dr. has said that bloodwork was normal, and the 2 ultrasounds showed a swollen lymphnode that measured the same size each time ( Don't recall the exact measurement but do remember is was in mm not cm), and that it was considered a reactive lymphnode due to the size of it. They were done about 6 weeks apart.
I went back to my Dr. for a 4 month follow-up, and now he wants me to get a second opinion by a cancer Dr. My Dr. said that he felt strongly that it is not cancer, especially because the swollen lymphnode is not hard, is is moveable, and does not apear to have grown in size.
I think that is goes down, and then gets bigger again....( Especially when I can't seem to stop touching it to see if it is gone)!
Can anyone give me some advice? I am very scared, and the fear of the possibility of cancer is consuming me.
I have read that if it is tender, soft, moveable, and gets smaller at times, it is not cancer. Does anyone agree? I think the reality of having an appointment with a specialist is freaking me out. My Dr. said that he is just doing this to confirm his thoughts and to set my mind at ease, and he feels that is is not cancer.
Any opinions or feedback would be very appreciated.
