Possible Lymphoma - 1 swollen tonsil - Lymphomas Message Board

I'm a 35 year old male. I've been sick for 1 year now. 1st possible dx was lymphoma last march. That was because I had Lypmhnode swelling on a ct of the chest. (mediastinal lymphnode) 2 weeks later they did another scan and the swelling went down. Changed dx to mono. next month they said not mono but possibly a stroke, since I had a brain scan and 2 white spots showed up. 1 month later, stroke dx was changed to possible multiple sclerosis, this was determined because a new brain scan showed no white spots. 1 month later I did a Spinal tap and then they said no MS, possibly some neurological disorder. After 3 months of neuro testing, they just ruled out neuromuscular disease. WOW has this been a great year. My poor wife and kids have been through so much with this. Now, everything has gone a full 360 degrees and we are back on the Lymphoma train. For 2 weeks my left tonsil is really swollen and there is absolutely no soreness to it. I was put in the hospital for 2 days about a month ago for shortness of breath and numbness in head neck foot. 1 week after the hospital my left tonsil swelled and has not gone down. I see an ENT on wednesday, hopefully they biopsy the tonsil. WELL ANYWAYS, here's my question. what do you think??? All blood tests were good and chest scans were good. They did not do a next, soft tissue scan. Let me know THANK YOU>

If your xrays came back okay, then don't worry. If you get the medistinal growth again, insist on a needle biopsy.

I looked at my medical records and I was mistaken. It didn't say the midistinal nodes were gone, it just says that they havn't changed since the 1st ct scan. They did a third scan and the nodes are the same size still as 1 year ago. Does this mean there is no cancer or it just hasn't progressed?

So far you sound as though you have been experiencing a collection of viruses. However, until a biopsy has been made of a lymph node. The diagnosis can be only an educated guess. As far as changes go, sometimes infections can enlarge a lymph node and it never returns to original size, but is not cancerous either, that is why a biopsy is absolutely necessary to define treatment options. Since a biopsy has not been done and is really too invasive for needless surgery, it sounds like your doctors are being careful and conservative.
