Help. worried about several lymph nodes - Lymphomas Message Board

Hi,

In early December I found a pea size node on the right side of my neck. I went to the doctors and he said it wasn't anything to worry about and to come back in a month. I went back and it hadn't grown at all, probably a tiny bit smaller, but since then I have been finding more and more in the same region.

Now I have about 6 on my neck, the biggest being a centimeter, and the others being at or under half a centimeter. I know what a node isn't technically enlarged till it's over a centimeter, but they weren't there before. Also, one of them has grown maybe a milimeter over the weekend, and a couple more have popped up as well. I'm not sick, I have a lot of allergies and I'm slightly run down, and as I have inflammation in my lungs, but nothing that gives me a satisfactory explanation.

The nodes are moveable but firm, they aren't tender, but they are smooth. I'm very scared that this could be cancer... although two doctors have told me they are nothing to worry about (hopefully I'll be going to the specialist soon). I just can't understand why they keep popping up in quick succession, is this a characteristic of lymphoma?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ask your doctor to do a chest x-ray or CT scan if you are worried. A good doc will listen.;

I actually have what seems to be the same thing. I have just noticed that I have been getting them about 5 months ago. Mine seem to come and go. But I get about 3 - 5 at a time. I have 3 right now. 2 are behind my ear right next to my hair line. The other is on the back of my neck. They sound about the same size as yours. They all all different sizes thou, but small. When I first noticed them I thought it was acne. I kept playing with them and I think they got bigger. I do know this time I had the flu Sunday night and I got them the next day. It seems like I've had them before thou without any known sickness. It's wierd, but I haven't went to the doctor for them yet. If you find any info let me know. Oh another thing is that a couple of them seem to come in the exact same spot everytime I get them.

reaganbeanermom gives you good advice - if you want to be completely calm, do those tests.

in the meantime, I can tell you that nodes on side of the neck can be slightly enlarged because of almost trivial reasons you are not aware of (bad tooth/teeth).
also, some people can feel nodes in that area - I was worried about it too and then my doctor told me - "here, felt" and he had exact same thing for 15 years. of course, that's if they are really small like you are explaning.
