A few weeks ago, I found a tiny lump above my collar bone. It was really small and hard to feel. Over the past few weeks, it has grown a bit and is now easy to feel. I went to a doctor and he is sending me to an ENT surgeon. I don't have any other symptoms. No fatigue, no weight loss, no night sweats. I don't feel sick at all. In fact, I haven't even had a cold or the flu for a long, long time. I am really concerned. Everyone says this could be a million things, but does anybody know what those other things are? I haven't had any infections that I know of for a very long time. The lump is not tender at all. It is painless.

Why is the doctor sending you to an ENT if the lump is above the collarbone? Unless he thinks it is a mass growing from the thyroid gland. Anyway, some of the possibilities are: its a cyst, just tissue that decided to clump together, it could be a blood vessel that has decided to form a big intersection. It could be a benign tumor. Benign means it could be getting larger but does not have its own blood supply and can be easily taken out. It could also be just a reactive lymph node. The reason you do not feel sick is because your immune system is doing what it is supposed to do, in this case. These are all the reasons it could exist and NOT be cancer.
