Unhappy Am I going to Die, Please give advice

LAst month I suffered from a groin strain, while sprinting 100 yd dashes. The strain didn't immediately hurt. It progressively worsened over a few weeks. Then I noticed that I had swollen(not painful) lymph glands on both sides of the groin . In the region of my upper thigh. Definitely not my abdomen or hernia. I went to the doctor for the groin pull and recieved a celestone shot and anti-inflamatory medication (mobic). I mentioned to the Physcian assistant that the glands in the area were also swollen. She said that was completely normal due to the groin pull.

Well it has been well over a month and a half since my doctor visit and 2-2.5 months since the initial groin injury and my groin strain has apparently healed. But my lymph glands are still swollen some days more so than others, but always easily found by feel. They have also become moderatly painful. Sex became very uncomfortable during one recent episode. I generally feel fatigued on a routine basis, but who doesn't. Should I go back to the doctor for a closer look or just wait it out for something else to show?

Coolwaters: I will give you the advice that I have gotten from this board and one other. They have all told me that if you have unusual enlarged bumps anywhere on you body that you should get them checked out! (the sooner the better) I also know that you can have lymphoma and not show "any signs"! I have what I thought was one swollen lymph im my neck and have been to many doc. I finally had a ultrasound and they found out that it was 2 swollen lymphnodes. I will be having a biopsy done on these on Friday..

I got really good advice from someone the other day!

"WHEN IN DOUT CUT IT OUT!"
better to be safe then sorry.

FYI: ONLY a SURGICAL biopsy will tell you if you have anything to worry about. the needle aspiration "COULD" give you false results.

Good Luck, and Please keep me posted.
Jen.

I agree you need to get it checked out, but remember MOST swollen lumps or nodes(90%) are not cancer. The ones to be the most concerned about are usually fixed(not moblile), firm or hard to the touch(not soft), non-tender(as opposed to painful), not fluid filled as a cyst, and often only in one area at first, and most important, they don't go away on their own. Then ther are other factors particular to each patient that can put them at a higher risk category.

But there are exceptions to everything, and as always better safe than sorry. even with the types that are cancer, they are EXTREMELY curable.

I am still awating my biopsy results.

Good Luck!
