yesterday i went a different doctor who i havent seen before and asked about 3 swollen lymph nodes in my neck. he examined my nodes in my neck and then felt for any swollen in my groin or under my arms, none were swollen. the thing is i have had one node on the back of my neck which has been swollen for about 18 months it has never been painful but when my second one swelled it was slightly painful and that was about 2 months ago then the third on the side of my neck swelled up about 3 weeks ago. i told my doctor all of this and he seems to think that its not cancer because of the fact that no other nodes are swollen other than in my neck he gave me anti biotics which my normal doctor gave me 2 months ago with no result, anyway if they dont go down after i finish my antibiotics he will refer me to a specialist who will do a biopsy on my lymph nodes so im really worried about all of this just hoping to god they go down in the next 2 weeks. if anyone knows if this could be a type of an infection or something else please let me know im only 18 and have always been healthy so this is stressing me out alot ..... thanks

From what I've been told, it seems glands can flare up at the slightest thing - sratches, rashes and the like - so perhaps it is a reaction to something like this?

I have a similar anxiety at the moment (I'm 19) and on Monday am off to see a specialist about a swollen gland on my neck which has been there for ages. At first the Doctor said it was probably due to a rash - but now the rash has gone, but the swelling has not (but then, it was there before the lump anyway).

Anyways, this morning I've found another swelling on the same side of my neck - so am v worried, especially as am supposed to be moving to University in three weeks. I seem to have no other symptoms beside fatigue - but this could be because I work long hours. It's all very confusing!

My suggestion would be see how it goes on the anti-biotics. You never know, the swellings may go in a week. If not, go back and get them checked again. Remember, even if the worst comes to the worst, the general consensus seems to be that Lymphomas are highly treatable.

I have had the same problem both of you are talking about. For about 3 years now I have had a lump on the back of my neck. After several visits to the doctors I finally decided to ask for a biopsy. Even though I have had no other symptoms, I figure that youre better safe than sorry. Has your lump changed in size at all and does it feel kind of rubbery? I am just trying to find someone who is going through this same thing because i am tired of worrying
