I can relate to your concern. My eight year old son had two lymph nodes in his neck. When we first took him in, the biggest was 1.8 cm, and after two rounds of antibiotics, it grew to over 4 cm. They felt sure it was lymphoma after having elevated blood tests also. He had a second ultrasound, and the radiologist sent him to have a CT scan right away because he thought they'd find more growths. It came back clean, but they sent him for a biopsy on the neck nodes. The initial report came back indicating probable hodgkins, but after two weeks of tests, it came back benign.
This was the second child we went through a cancer scare with, so I didn't drive myself nuts worrying this time. I learned with the first that all the red flags in the world don't necessarily mean it's cancer. If it isn't cancerous, don't be surprised if you never find out its true cause. They just aren't able to tell you a lot of times. Rest assured, both of my children are doing well without any definitive final diagnosis.
Good luck with everything, and try to keep a positive attitude!!!!!!!!!
Let us know how everything turns out!
