I Found a Lump....Scared and Unsure.
The other day, I noticed a bump/lump under my chin. It was about the size of a dime, hard and a bit painful.
It's enlarged since then, though not a lot; it starts about a thumb-tips length from my jaw/chin bone and goes until the the bottom of my chin area, where my neck and face connect (I'm not even sure this is making any sense.) It is still hard and painful.
I have no idea what it could be. My friend, who is a nursing student, said it could be a swollen salivery gland or a cyst and jokingly said I had cancer from smoking.
Joking or not...I'm scared! I've never been a "smoker" per say...I smoke here and there, but I'm definately not addicted. I haven't smoked in about a month, either. I also use tanning beds quite regularly, as well. So the suggestion of cancer petrifies me.
Should I wait and see if it goes away? Should I call the doctor? Do I call a dentist or regular doctor (my grandma said an orthodontist, maybe, but I don't know why)
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what it could be, etc?
Please help!!
Thanks in advance.
