For those that had fevers

I posted about my mom earlier and thank you for the response that I got. It has now been 2 weeks and she is still getting fevers every night in the middle of the night. For those that have Lymphoma and you had fevers - were the fevers only in the middle of the night or did you get them during the day as well? She has night sweats to but never without the fever being present. My mom is the wheel of my family and with her not well the stress on my family is overwhelming. We are all so worried about her.

Thanks for reading.

Sahaira,
My friend has been dx'd recently with Nodular sclerosing Hodgkins lymphoma B (Stage 4.) The fevers, swollen lymp nodes, drenching night sweats, itchy skin and extreme fatigue finally led her to the ER, and with multiple trips, a chest xray and then more tests came the dx.

The fever seems to worsen in the evening, tho, she does run around 99-100 degrees during the day time. I think the high fevers subsided when she spent a few days in the hospital receiving IV treatments of potasium and fluids.

She had her first treatment of chemotherapy a week ago today and lately the fevers have not been above 100. The night sweats have subsided, I think.

Does your mom have trouble sleeping? I know my friend still does, she feels so tired and yet unable to sleep until around 1:00-3:00am. Then she sleeps the mornings away.

I haven't read your other posts so I don't know the type of cancer she is dealing with.

I have borrowed books from the doctors office along with gathering as much info on this disease as I can, so as to understand it and to know how I can be a support to her and the family.

My thoughts are with you and your family, uvm

Re: For those that had fevers

Thank you so much. I read your other post and you are very helpful. My mom has not been diagnosed with anything yet which is what is bothering me. She has a fever that comes on in the middle of the night. She gets chills and is sweating when she wakes up. Then after two ibuprofen she is able to get back to sleep. The WHOLE next day she has no fever whats so ever. When she goes to bed she has no trouble falling asleep she just is woken up by her fever. The highest it goes is around 101. She has no itchy skin, no swollen lymph nodes that they can feel and a clean chest xray. She is tired during the day but I am guessing it is because she is awake during the middle of the night. If she goes to bed and takes two ibuprofen before falling asleep she sleeps through the whole night. Her white blood cells are up and they also found that she is hypothyroid.

This is about all we know right now. I have panic disorder so trying to cope with her being sick and not knowing why is taking a toll of me! I am so worried that she has a type of lymphoma based on her symptoms and the doctors aren't being aggressive enough. It just helps to talk to people too. So thank you for listening.

Sahaira,

I pray that it is not Lymphoma, if it is, it must be in the early stages. Did you know that TB also has night sweats listed as a symptom. But with the sign of infection (high white cell count), it could be Epstein-Barr or...

Check with her doctors regarding Fibromyalgia (FMS) or Chronic Fatigue Immune Dificiency Syndrome (CFIDS), or perhaps the doctor can run test for Autoimmune Disorders, or Infectious Diseases, if they have not been ruled out yet.

I became sick the end 2003, with hypothyroidism along with pain all over, fatigue, cognitive thinking issues, dizziness, instead of fevers (tho, low grade fevers are common), I experienced low blood pressure and low temps! My symptoms worsened as I continued working...found out that I not only had FMS and CFIDS, but Chronic Neuro-toxins from Sick Building Syndrome. My workplace has some mold or other toxic issues, (still to be determined) that affected my central nervous system. The longer I tried working the more my bodies systems were affected causing a cascade of serious problems with my health. That's another story.

I sure hope that your family will find out what it is very soon, sometimes we have to turn things over to a higher power for comfort,
uvm
