5-6cm swollen gland and symptoms?!

Hello, I have looked at over 15 pages of threads hoping to get more of an idea if I am worrying for nothing or if my gut feeling might be right about something, but still not too sure... so thought I would post and see what you guys think about it.

So here how it goes. Several weeks ago, I felt a lump on my upper right groin. I left it be for a few days, thinking I might have got hit at kenpo or did a wrong move. There was no scratch around, no redness, no cut, no nothing....the week after I saw my family doctor and told her about it. She did a physical exam and because I also have had regular pain in lower back and lower stomach, she decided to order a ct scan to see all of those things together. 3 days later, she called me at home confirming to me that it wasn't an hernia(which she had slight doubts about..) and said she wanted me to take antibiotic for 10 days(2 times a day) to see if it would make the lymph nodes decrease in size and all... well this week, I had my follow up appointment with her to check it out.

It is still there, although not as noticeable just by look, it can easily be felt(still the same lenght but a little less wide). It doesn't seem to be moveable at all and it is kinda hard(one part seem to be harder than the rest). So, she referred me to a surgeon in my city that I will see next week for consultation. She said she wanted him to excise it and do a biopsy to make sure everything was alright.

That said, there been other symptoms bothering me for the last while(some for quite a while, some for the past few weeks).
- I have been really exhausted and tired. Although, I get up and stay up most days til bed time, I feel tired all day and could easily fall asleep if I would let myself do so. I got a lack of energy that I am fighting to my best by keep on going to my kenpo on a daily basis(I don't work or anything so it is the main thing I do right this moment).
- I also got a lack of appetite that has been around for a while now... I mean never been the one to always eat a breakfast you know but some days, my stomach won't growl all day and I end up eating just because I want to make sure I don't faint at kenpo classes. If I eat, I feel like I had enough even just with a yogourt. That said, I am still able to get myself to eat a normal meal size at night mostly. But I feel full faster.
- Also, I get neasous very often it seems(which is unusual).... sometimes without even having anything, sometimes just after drinking something sometimes after eating. Nothing to keep my head over the toilet bowl but to be bothersome.
- Get a new kind of headache since a while(which might be realted to eating difficutlies?), my bones in my lower legs often hurt at night especially( i got problems with my knees but can't recall having that kind of pain in the bones(not joint) before), i get itchy pretty easily too for some reasons, hands and feet especially(new allergie?).... etc...

I probably could go on but to sum it all up, I been feeling like crap lately...

I guess I would like some reassurance or advices or something....

*also wanted to ask if it is usual for a doctor to ask for a biopsy that fast????

Thank you all and hope everyone is doing alright! Got you guys(and girls) in my thoughts!

Re: 5-6cm swollen gland and symptoms?!

It sounds like you have a very caring doctor. It is unusual to have a lymph node in that area for no obvious reason. There are many things that the biopsy could turn up such as a reactive node to a bowel infection or passing virus. Anxiety will even cause some lymph nodes to pop for a while and then for some reason they will die down again. The main thing is to follow through with what ever your doctor recommends that is reasonable to you. If you think something is not right ask for second opinion. If a treatment is involved that seems too limited or too involved, ask for a second opinion. But, it sounds like you are one of the lucky few whose doctor takes their problems seriously.

Tekkymrc,

You may like to try a couple of doses of Lycopodium 30c and see if that helps.

Lycopodium 30c is a herbal homeopathic remedy for such conditions associated with reduced appetite, easy satiety eyc. It could help.

Re: 5-6cm swollen gland and symptoms?!

Hello,

I just wanted to thank you both for taking the time to read me and reply! It means a lot to me. So much is going on at home, our financial situation, my wife's work, etc, that I feel I can't really lay my worries out on the table. I don't want to let it out on her and I know she feels already like there is always something wrong with me and it is getting on her nerves.(not that she is mean, but just that her too doesn't feel good all the time but she still get things done, i don't always do that...)

I hope the biopsy will reveal it is nothing serious and that the other symptoms I have been feeling lately will resolve or turn out to be nothing to worry about! I just want to get my life straight and make my wife happy and when I am stuck so much in my own head because of my fears and emotions, it is hard to get things done as they need to or when they need to.

I am in a country where I know no one, don't have any friends near by, and no one to talk to and my wife as already a lot on her plate, I wanna be there for her! So feels good to see some people wanna hear me! Thanks again!

I'll write more another time!

Re: 5-6cm swollen gland and symptoms?!

Hello,

I wanted to stop by and give an update on things are going right now. I still have a consultation schedule the 24th and was happy last week to hear my wife say she had off friday so she will be coming along with me.

The lump haven't really change size or hardness since last week... the top part is very hard(like a bone) and the bottom part is rubbery. I try to leave it alone but just check real quick everyday to see if it got smaller or changed any.

I didn't notice any other lumps on my body but I do wonder if there is some underneath for a reason. Under my armpit on both side there is some disconfort since a while and no appearant reason for it. Some days I do not notice it at all and some other day it get really bothersome.

There is also a side of my throat on the outside that has been bothersome although when I feel the sides, I cannot tell if there is anything there out of the ordinary except the sensitivity on that side in the upper area right under the chin. It kinda feel like I something stuck in my throat on that side and it just doesn't go away.

Also, I had a question for anyone who might have an idea about that. It started in 2005 and although it worried me for a while the dr said it was nothign to worry about. in the back of my neck at the right of the spine, I had started to feel a kind of lump. when I showed the dr he said that it was just my muscle being bigger on that side ????... sometimes I got neck pain though I dunno fi it is related to that, but the "bigger" side is still there after all that time, no pain to touch, rubbery and so on... could it be really just that the muscle of my neck are bigger on that side? its just that will all the other symptoms I have been having, it is starting to worry me some.

On the good side, I had a chest x-rays last week because doctor said that I hd been coughing for too long and had a bronchitis at least which she wanted to make sure wasn't turning in something more serious, and , the good part of that is that we are tuesday and she didn't call me or anything(i would assume she got the results by now) so if she didn't call yet, it must mean that there is nothing wrong with my chest! well nothign too serious or obvious that is.

anyways, if anyone can let me know what they think it would be appreciated, I been quite worried about lots of symptoms showing up lately and getting input from others as always help me put things in perceptive better!

Thanks again,

Tekkymrc
