Worried about symptoms - Lymphomas Message Board

I'm 23 and for about the last year have had a variety of symptoms but have been unable to come up with any answers. First I had mono about 5 years ago, but thought I had recovered. Well last year I started to get the fatigue again and didnt really think anything of it. Then I was hit with 4 or 5 severe infections that the docs thought were just reoccuring strep throat even though the throat cultures never came up positive. After the 3 months of back to back infections and 4 or 5 courses of antibiotics, I have noticed that my tonsils and lymph nodes remain swollen in my neck. I have night sweats, fatigue, and my tonsils and lymph nodes swell up and hurt after I drink alcohol. Also, when I look in the back of my throat I notice a lump that is seperate from my right tonsil that seems to be growing. I have been to an ENT and several docs and all they say is I have tonsilitis and I should consider having my tonsils taken out. But my blood count has come back as having low platelets and I feel like something else is going on here........any suggestions??????

hi...perhaps there is a scan you might be able to have done, if your medical coverage allows....i believe that this is one of the more reliable methods of
detection of a problem....

Kim,
Some antibiotics can lower platelets. How low are your platelets? I have a condition called ITP where my body produces antibodies to my platelets and causes my platelet count to go low - when this happens, I am very tired and my joints and muscles ache.

Are you experiencing bruising? What are they going to do next? You need to be followed.
