Quick question...newbie here

Hello there....
Im new here and I have a quick question...it may be nothing...but Im at my wits end and I saw this board...and decided...what the heck.
When I was younger ( Im 30 now) I had about 4 swollen lymph nodes in my neck taken out...( the biggest one was the size of a golf ball..and they all got smaller from there) Everything was fine. Then a few months after that...I had another episode with swollen lymph nodes but this time it was under my arm....everything went fine with that surgury as well.
Now...for the past month Ive had this swollen lymph node in the same spot on my neck. Periodically I have sharp pains..but not all the time. Ive become really tired...and there are times when I become really lightheaded and become extremly tired..and I need to lay down.
The doctors think its a infection so they put me on some anibiotics...which its been 2 weeks and nothing. ( the node seems to be getting bigger) and they gave me some vicidon for the sharp pains...but that doesnt seem to help.....
Im going to be going to a specialist ( ear nose and throat) cause I feel like Im getting the run around from the doctors that Ive seen ( my husband is in the military so Ive seen 3 diff doctors and Ive proceeded to get 3 diff answers)
I guess my question is this....if anyone has had the same thing as I have....could it just be a infection? If so...why wouldnt the antibiotcis get rid of it? I just dont know if going to a specialist is the right thing to do....I mean...if he is going to say the same thing...Infection....

If anyone could help out...that would be wonderful...if not...I can understand. Im just at my wits end and just though maybe talking to others would put light on my situation....

{{{{ cdmo }}}}

if you are not comfortable with the dr's ... then insist... also.. you can have a dentist order you to see a oral surgeon.. dentist and oral surgeons care for you from the collar bone up.. and sometimes they are more understanding and willing to do the tests and things you need.

My dentist is the one that fibnally got the knot i had on the side of my face looked at and then removed and did the pathology on it.. I was dxd with Difuse Large B Cell NHL ( non hodgkins lymphoma) luckily they caught it early ... stage 1... i did chemo and radiation and it all seems to have worked I go for a check up in april after having new CT scans done in Mar so hopefully i will be in remission.. they had told me probabilyt for reoccurancer is only 20% and my prognosis is Excellent!!! So I will hope for the same for you!!!

Re: Quick question...newbie here

I had the same experience as you. I had developed swolled lymph nodes under my arms in 2001. My doctor gave me antibotics for two months they were getting bigger and more clump together the doctors said not to worry.
I decided to have them removed the prognoses was non-hodgkins lymphoma
I waited 2 years before treatment in that time they grew to the pelvic, stomach, groin, head chest and the arms. My 21 year old daughter had two lumps removed at two times from her throat both reports came back neg. If you had your lumps removed and the report came back neg. then there nothing to worry about. I also developed fms from all the treatment and complications. The pain of fms is far worse than swollen lymph nodes I give fighting nhl a 6 and fms a 10

Re: Quick question...newbie here

Hi

I also had many enlarge nodes. Neck, under arms, and groin. I went to my Dr. who told me that neck ones where probably blocked salivary glands. Gave me antibiotics and said I could see an ENT if I wanted to.
Well I did within that week. He right away sent me for a Ct with contast. Next I had a biospy and the diagnosis was CL. My blood counts were awful, but I am I being treated with Chemo and I am better.
So please go to an ENT. That seem to tbe the best place to start.

Keep us posted

Take care
