Fluid is not an actual infection. There would need to be bacteria growing out of control for there to be an actual infection. Fluid behind the ear is also sometimes referred to as 'swimmer's ear' although it can happen to people that do not swim. There are home remedies people try for this, from applying heat, to OTC swimmer's ear drops, to going to the ear doctor for a formal ear canal cleaning/draining procedure.
