TB case and low immune system - Lymphomas Message Board

hey,
this is one of my mini-freak outs and i feel to stupid to speak to my doctor yet.

i just recieved a letter (it was generic, dear student) from my uni saying there have been a couple of cases of TB this year at uni however the risk of catching it is low. i dont know if i should call uni or occupational health or my gp or onc. my immune system is only now fully recovered (i think). TB is what you get your BCG for right? and even though i had it at school and they now dont ruitinely vaccinate against it i cant help but think that maybe i am at an increased risk to it. am i just being paranoid? i hope i am but then at the same time i don't want to become that person that calls there gp everytime someone sneezes near me. so cause i went through chemo and my immune system was shot would i have to have another mantoux test?

anyone got any advice? or had a similar situation? i'm in remission a year now and had 6 months of ABVD chemo for hodgkins.

Well spoke to occupational health at uni. it is now an epidemic apparently. i had my first hep b vaccine and still have another 2 at the end they will then test al my antibodies to make sure i am still immune.

i am slightly confused. i know that it is your memory t and b cells that fight off an infection you have had previously but my gp said i still have all those but when i was with the infection control nurse on my placement and with the health visitor and vaccine team they all said that you would need all your childhood vaccines if you had no immune system due to chemo or organ transplant etc.

oh well, i'll get tested in 6months to see if i do need anything i guess.
