Re: Do i have lymphoma? Please help!

Hi everyone, sorry I have not responded sooner, but didn't have much to report back.
I went to see a different doctor who said the same as the first, and didn't want to biopsy me. I then went to another doctor a few weeks after, as I had a few more appear in my neck. He sent me for a chest x-ray, end of April time, which came back clear, so he wished to proceed with no further investigation.
It has now been another two months, and they are still there! No bigger, but still there. At present I have one on my left jaw (smaller than a pea) I think three on my left side of neck (pea sized) and one under left armpit (baked bean sized).
I went back to a different doctor yesterday, who is now going to refer me to a specialist. So fingers crossed! Just hope I will have good news at the end of this ordeal
Thankyou all for your concern, hope you are all well.

I am a 22 year old female, just looking for some advise and/or reassurance. I found a painless swollen lymph node under my left armpit 2 weeks ago. It is about 1.5cm in size and is moveable. It is also not visible from the outside. I rang and spoke to a doctor when I found this, as I googled my symptoms which terrified me! The doctor told me not too worry, leave it alone and check it in 2 weeks time and if it's still there go in and see her. I wasn't very good at leaving it alone as I have been so worried about it (not sure if this could prevent it returning to it's normal size)?
Anyway yesterday was 2 weeks and it's still there so I went to the doctors. The doctor gave me a breast examination and said it feels ok and she is not particullarly worried about it. She told me again to check in 2 weeks as it should go down. If still there in 2 weeks, she will look into it further. I cannot stop worrying about it, and spend hours searching for different possibilites on the internet. I have no other symptoms, except occaisionslly I have a twitching feeling (which I can only describe as a baby moving) in my lower stomache. It is not at all painfull, and mainly happens at night. Could this maybe be my spleen swelling?
Everyone I know tells me I am being overly paranoid, which I do think I suffer from slight health anxiety, which has got worse since I've had my son, who is nearly 9 months. I just can't bear the thought of leaving him, and know I prob wouldn't have been as worried before.
Anyway, I'm sorry for the long post! Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything out. Any help or advise would be much appreciated. Thankyou for reading.
I had similar problems with a lymph node in my neck before. The lymph node swelled up to roughly the size of a ping-pong ball. I had it for about three months. I also didn't really have any other symptoms. My doctor told me it was likely due to my body fighting off a viral infection, but to be safe my doctor put me on some antibiotics. I recovered from it with no problems. It sounds like this could be the same case for you.

Hope this helps,
Liz

Have they discussed with you at all that you may just have an infection? I would suggest it. Lymph nodes are your body's normal response to infection, if you have a few swollen that is probably the case. I've had my lymph nodes swell up to rather impressive sizes before and it was never anything serious. Usually it was just my body fighting off a viral infection or I found out I had a cut or something that was a bit infected and my body was fighting it. Have you gotten any piercings, tattoos, or injuries lately? It could be in response to that or your body could have just got a bit of a viral infection it is trying to fight off.

It's always good to get these things thoroughly checked, but I have a feeling you'll be just fine.

Hang in there,
Liz

Re: Do i have lymphoma? Please help!

Ask your Doctor for an ESR blood test. That measures whether you could be fighting some infection in your body without realising it, usually if that comes back higher than normal they will do further investigations. The Doctors are being typical for this country (flippant) and i would either go back and kick some bum, or go privately if you can afford it, or go to your local A & E department and tell them you dont feel well and you have all these lumps everywhere, that way they will probably railroad you straight to the relevant Doctor, instead of waiting for these imbesile GP's to take their time with you. Makes me angry, any lumps should NOT be left, a Doctor is not God and cannot tell by just looking and a simple blood test, it needs to be scanned or biopsied. Put your foot down with someone , time is precious in these circumstances. But try not to worry either, worry only when you need too keep us posted .
