Anyone misdiagnosed with Mono? - Lymphomas Message Board

Hi There,

9 weeks ago, I developed the following symptoms:

High fever
Swollen lymph nodes (neck & back of head primarily)
Eye pain
Slight cough
MAJOR fatigue
Fever (100-101)
Night Sweats

Took a monospot test- Positive
Antibody test- Equivocal (current infection not confirmed)

As time has gone by I have developed:

Spenomelgy (confirmed by ultrasound)
Constant low grade fever (99-100)
Itchiness
Intermittant vomiting
Intermittant diaherrea
shortness of breath
chest pain
Swollen lymphs in armpit and clavicle
High Platelet Count (456)
Increased Basophils

All other CBC counts in range.

I had confirmed mono in 1987 & 1990 both much milder cases of mono.

This is the 9th week now, and I am not feeling any better.

Should there be concern of misdiagnosis (getting concerned about lymphoma)? Anyone have similar symptoms prior to diagnosis?

PS- I'm a 34yr old female

Have lost 17lbs so far, and have no appitite

I was misdiagnosed with mono as well. I was also told that I had
bronchitis. My symptoms were- loss off appetite, itchiness, and a non productive cough.
After going to a second doctor I was given a chest xray, and was found to have DLBCNHL. After 8 rounds of RCHOP w/ Rituxan, I am doing really well.

Thank you GallaryGirl! Did you have a postive monospot or EBV Antibody test?

I am showing 'Eqivocal' results for current infection and Positive for Convalescent infection, but am not getting better at all.

My chest xray was clear, but am scheduled for a CT scan.

my daughter was diagnose with mono-tests were neg, dr. feels sure.
year later daughter still has swollen lymph nodes in clavicle area, complains about tiredness, and not feeling well, has never had fever as part of symptoms. dr's thought she had cancer but all tests neg any ideas?
