Talking to all my friends

I am so so so sorry I have not been in contact any sooner! I hope everyone is well.
I am now 2 years in remission and now only have to see my consultant every 3 months instaed of every month like the last 2 years! Still not had any more CT scans or anything as all my bloods have been completely normal. Still get panicky everytime I go to the hospital but I guess that will disappear as I get older.

I am half way through my nursing training now and have just been accepted to work in london for 5 weeks next year as pert of my training so I am ridiculously excited!

Singer, Simon, Alison, everyone I hope you are all well!!!

All my love

Amanda

I have not logged in to this forum for months! So it is great to see you posting, Amanda! Wonderful news that you are doing so well. I am now three years post diagnosis and due for my annual scan at the end of this month. Feeling really well.

My husband is now 6 years post diagnosis for rectal cancer and has been really well until this weekend when he had either a small seizure or a small stroke.....tests have not given a clear answer as yet. He was in hospital for three days. But life goes on, with all its ups and downs!

Re: to all my friends

I'm so thrilled to hear from you both!

I, too, have been away for months. Life has been good--and hectic---but, I'm doing well and am embarking on a new career. It's taking it's toll on me, physically...but, I went back to working-out, and have found that my energy level has really increased. Chemo/radiation still have lingering effects on me, but I'm thrilled to say, I'm feeling better all the time.

I was wondering about Simon. Simon, if you read this, please post & let us know how you're getting on.

It's lovely to hear from you...
Singer

Re: to all my friends

I'm still around, and glad to hear that people are doing well. It's now a whole year since I finished chemo.

I have not posted for a while, as little has changed. My lungs appear to be stable, although the gas transfer score has never returned to the normal range. I've got used to being a bit out of breath now, so it does not bother me too much. Gradually tapering off the prednisolone, but probably still going to be on it for some months to come.

Other stuff is not going so well. Still feeling permanently exhausted, foggy brain, headaches and sweating all the time. Two MRI scans of my head show abnormalities, and lumbar puncture shows elevated serum protein. No lymphoma cells were found in the CSF sample, but the elevated protein shows there is definately something wrong. Had another MRI scan this week, vestibular function tests (they were not nice), and am due another lumbar puncture before I see neurologist again in 3 months. Have been trying to speak to oncologist for last few weeks, but he does not return my phone calls. I suspect he will just trot out the usual line about hodgkins invading the CNS being very rare, and it's up to my neurologist to work out what is going on.

It is so frustraing to keep having all these tests, be told there is something wrong, but nobody seems able to work out what it is. Maybe I will get to the bottom of this at some stage. If I find out anything, I will let you know.

All the best
Simon
